Im glad to read someones comments stating that personal experience counts for something. For me it is everything. Ive had quite learned jungians tell me i shouldnt share the stories about my encounters with the unseen. So, the controversy of tell-dont tell even rages amongst the best of jungian therapists, of which I am not one. Well i can only say grrr to that. What happened to oral tradition?
Ha! There’s the problem. I think we have individuality confused with making up the rules as we go. In fact i think we think we are such experts that many of our spiritual leaders as well as political leaders are missing the clues being offered by the other side. Some people say that the archetypes dont care if we are successful. Well in my experience i think they do care and put forth a lot of effort to bring us the tools we need to get on with our responsibilities.
A while back i attended a presentation by a jungian depth psychologist/psychiatrist on the subject of jungs work regarding direct experience. At the end of the talk a minister asked, “why is it that people live a good life, they are devout and pray for a direct experience with god but never have one? No one offered an answer but being a smart ass, when the group broke up i approached the man who was speaking with the presenter. When they were finished I said, I have an answer to your question. The 2 men looked at me. I said, I think it is as you say, people live good lives and they pray for a direct experience with their god but, when they come upon the burning bush, what do they do? they get a fire extinguisher.
Just getting some stuff off my mind.

Then i went home.
Mary,
Your comment about getting a fire extinguisher to put out the flames of the burning bush is not only very funny but piercingly accurate!
